Most people do not know the reason sex trafficking is in such high demand is because of the porn industry. The majority of women in porn videos and pictures are slaves, performing against their will.
I attended a meeting at Blazing Hope Ranch to help raise awareness for human trafficking. The guest speaker was a sex trafficking survivor. She was born into the industry, and from a very young age was forced to make porn videos. If she didn't perform correctly she was severely beaten. For 30 years this was her life, until she was rescued.
Millions of people around the world are living everyday in this hell, and for what? To allow porn users some temporary pleasure? 1 in 5 men watch porn. Women do it as well. And sadly about 67% of young men and 49% of young women believe that viewing pornography is acceptable. According to the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, 20% percent of all internet searches are related in some way to pornography. As addictions to pornography increase, users seek harder and harder material. There is a recent boom in the availability of “live” porn as trafficked children and women are forced to perform “on-demand” sex acts in front of web cameras as porn users watch. Porn users do not and cannot distinguish between trafficked women, prostitutes, and porn stars. By raising awareness about the porn industries affect on sex trafficking, you can help put an end to the demand of sex trafficking.
